Biosafety Specialist

Key Role:
Analyze and evaluate laboratory practices and strategies to provide guidance, consultation, and recommendations on improving laboratory safety. Respond to laboratory incidents, near-misses, inquiries, or concerns. Participate in safety audits, assessments, and inspections. Analyze the development and implementation of guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), manuals, and other documentation. Conduct risks assessments and gap analyses, as needed. Identify, develop, and conduct site-specific safety trainings for laboratory staff. Provide biosafety consultation to all levels of leadership and laboratory staff.

Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience in a microbiological laboratory

-Experience with working in biosafety

-Experience with providing safety services in a laboratory setting
-Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations including OSHA, CDC, and USDA

-MS degree in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Pathology, or Biology

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in working with US government clients

-Experience with the laboratory quality management system
-Ability to balance multiple assignments
-Possession of excellent client-facing skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Possession of excellent organizational and time management skills

-RBP or CBSP Certification a plus
