Communications Specialist, Mid

Key Role:
Implement and measure the SAPRO Strategic Communications Plan’s effectiveness. Provide targeted communications support to SAPRO program areas, including prevention, victim assistance, assessment, and policy. Develop and implement outreach campaigns to increase awareness, comprehension, and support of the department’s and SAPRO’s vision, mission, and efforts to prevent and respond to sexual assault in the military. Recommend tools and tactics for disseminating information most effectively, and employ relevant print and digital tools to transmit outreach messages and conceptualize. Work with a graphic artist to design multi-media marketing collateral, including slick sheets, trifolds, and Web content for outreach efforts. Maintain responsibility of SAPR Source page on SAPR.mil, including providing strategic communications guidance, expertise and integrate, and standardizing messaging across SAPRO program areas. Support the development and distribution of a variety communications plans, products, key messaging, and campaigns, including articles, briefings and talking points in support of outreach efforts.


Basic Qualifications:
-5+ years of experience with communications
-2+ year of experience with consulting

-Experience with consulting in collaborative sessions and peer reviews
-Experience with working in cross-functional teams
-Experience with working in the DoD community

-Knowledge of issues facing the DoD community
-Knowledge of sexual assault prevention and response programs and messaging
-Ability to be a self-starter and multi-tasker and thrive in a changing, fast-paced environment
-Ability to synthesize complicated issues and communicate them clearly

-BA or BS degree in Communications or Marketing


Additional Qualifications:

-Possession of excellent analysis and data gathering skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-Ability to obtain a security clearance
