Communications Specialist

Key Role:
Conduct media research with publicly-available information (PAI) and commercial media research tools to produce assessments on the public reaction to the client’s activities within the theater. Assess foreign and domestic-based PAI to identify trends, patterns, and relationships that provide unique insights to address PAO requirements. Research multi-lingual online media, including both English and non-English media, data from Web sites, electronic databases, including both free and subscription, interviews, company reports, including conference pamphlets and annual reports, government documents, including testimonies, reports, and commission studies and scientific literature for research development and research support.


Basic Qualifications:

-8+ years of experience with working in the DoD as military, civilian, or contractor in a joint or combined HQ, major command, or higher headquarters
-5+ years of experience with DoD public affairs, including providing public affairs advice to senior leaders on operational issues, conducting media operations, or communication planning or implementation
-4+ years of experience with using a spectrum of social media tools and tactics
-3+ years of experience with consulting, knowledge management, communications, and process improvement initiatives in a DoD or US government environment
-Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership
-Ability to travel up to 25% of the time required
-Ability to obtain DOCPER approval
-Active TS/SCI clearance
-BA or BS degree in Business, Communication, Public Relations, or International Relations
-Defense Information School (DINFOS) Qualification in Public Affairs


Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with internal operations of US missions abroad
-Experience with analysis or assessments, focused on information or media operations
-Knowledge of past and current geopolitical issues in the USEUCOM area of responsibility
-Knowledge of a foreign language preferred
-Ability to multi-task competing priorities, deliver under pressure, and pay strict attention to detail
-Ability to be a highly flexible self-starter capable of operating in a high-tempo environment under less than ideal time-management conditions
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-Possession of excellent analytical skills at the strategic and operational levels
-Possession of excellent research, organizational, interpersonal, effective relationship building, analysis, and data gathering skills
-MA degree in International Affairs, Communications, Public Affairs, or related field preferred
