Communications Test Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret developmental tests for new and modified Software Defined Radio (SDR) products or product components. Provide technical support and advice while investigating and resolving operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel. Guide and direct lower level personnel on the set-up and performance of tests at government Radio Frequency (RF) labs for the Navy and other government sites. Act as a liaison with outside suppliers in establishing or modifying specifications for purchased items for radio and waveform testbeds. Devise and apply testing procedures for parts or sub-assemblies received from outside vendors. Participate in the development, maintenance, and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs. Review progress and evaluate results with management and recommend changes in test plans and procedures. This position is located in San Diego, CA.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with Satellite Communications (SATCOM), waveform, or SDR or RF with military applications

-Experience with developing and revising test plans, test procedures, conducting tests, and developing test reports

-Experience with working in a DoD laboratory environment

-Experience with radio testbeds and troubleshooting

-Ability to travel up to 25% to test locations, including OCONUS sites

-Active Secret clearance required

-BA or BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in working with military SDRs supporting the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) and its associated products

-Experience with performing Verification and Validation (V&V) or certification testing

-Experience with prior work supporting the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) a plus

-Knowledge of Ultra High Frequency (UHF) military satellite waveforms preferred

-Ability to be flexible to travel up to three weeks at a time preferred
