Controls Engineer

Key Role:

Develop and apply advance hardware or software design methods, theories, and research techniques to the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems. Plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects, including coordinating the efforts of technical support personnel, drafters, technical writers, and electronics technicians in the performance of assigned projects. Conduct investigations and tests of considerable complexity. Review literature, patents, and current practices for the solution of assigned projects. Recommend corrections in technical applications and analysis. Evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. Provide technical consultation to other organizations and work leadership to junior employees.


Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with design, populate, and troubleshoot ridge and flexible printed circuit boards (PCBs) with thru–hole and surface mount components

-5+ years of experience with designing double–sided and multilayer PCBs

-5+ years of experience with designing PCB’s in Altium, Eagle, or a similar software

-5+ years of experience with programming in C and VHDL

-3+ years of experience with programming microcontrollers, microprocessors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)

-Active Secret clearance

-HS diploma or GED


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with reading electrical drawings, identifying components, and wiring

-Knowledge of electric theory and electromagnetic interference (EMI) best practices

-Ability to perform electrical calculations

-Ability to troubleshoot using electrical instruments and circuit expertise

-Ability to use multi meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, and general lab equipment

-Ability to solder components of all sizes to PCB’s

-Ability to support testing in a lab and outdoor environment

-Ability to troubleshoot existing hardware and software

-Ability to set test goals, develop test methodologies, conduct tests, and reduce and analyze data

-BS degree in EE or a related field


Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
