Counternarcotics Consultant/Expert, Senior

Key Role:

Provide professional leadership and narcotics control subject matter expertise through onsite assistance stationed overseas. Support senior client meetings and provide input on relevant matters to enable the sectors’ overall transformation. Demonstrate expertise in superb client delivery by diplomatically coordinating and providing support to the client and various organizations which contribute to accomplishing the narcotics control mission. Provide technical writing and comprehension and provide guidance and training. Demonstrate expertise in teamwork by collaborating with onsite assigned personnel. This position is located in MENA with limited visits back to the US.

Basic Qualifications:

-18+ years of experience as a US military officer at the O4-O6 level or E9 level with interagency, national, or international narcotics control agencies and programs with no more than 2 years out of the corresponding agency and willing to live in the MENA region for at least 1 year

-5+ years of experience as a civilian with federal law enforcement agencies in countering international or domestic drug production, prevention of drug-related criminal recruitment, and drug prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation with no more than 2 years out of the corresponding agency and willing to live in the MENA region for at least 1 year

-Experience with providing federal civilian agency or military expertise in one or more of the following areas: narcotics control or counter-narcotics enforcement regulatory policies and procedures, planning and directing narcotics control programs and agencies to counter smuggling operations, controlling and preventing the illicit trade of hazardous materials by land, air, or sea, leading and coordinating organizations assigned to detection efforts, including leading investigations, location monitoring, and cross-organizational coordination to support such efforts, and security assistance and cooperation in Foreign Military Sales and International Military Education and Training to improve narcotic control agency capabilities

-Experience with establishing and monitoring narcotics control awareness and rehabilitation programs to raise public awareness and provide treatment programs guidance and policies, including post-treatment rehabilitation

-Experience with research analysis to develop and further comprehend trends

-Experience with establishing, monitoring, and assessing narcotics control training programs

-Experience with developing high-quality deliverables using various tools, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with deployments and working overseas

-Experience with foreign military personnel related to security assistance and cooperative programs

-Experience with the Arabic language a plus

-Experience with working in the Middle East a plus

-MA or MS degree preferred
