Cyberspace Operations Engineer

Key Role:

Participate in and support the conduct of deliberate planning for Platform Information Technology (PIT) or control systems in support of USCYBERCOM action officers. Apply advanced telecommunications knowledge of DoD network designs and operations to analyze and define solutions for PIT. Assess threats and vulnerabilities for PIT and recommend appropriate strategies to defend or exploit them. Maintain thorough knowledge of DoDIN operations, US Cyberspace operations community architecture, and potential defensive capabilities for countering Cyber threats. Assess operational risks and issues, develop effective courses of action (COAs) and mitigation strategies, and coordinate actions for PIT planning in support of USCYBERCOM Joint Planning Groups’ (JPGs) conduct of Joint Operational Planning Process activities. Use engineering methodologies to develop concepts for assessing PIT system resilience. Coordinate planning efforts across members of the DoD community and access current scientific and technical intelligence products for awareness of threats to PIT systems.


Basic Qualifications:

-10+ years of experience as a Cyberspace operations engineer or a related functional area

-Experience in working with military staff, including supporting senior military and civilians

-Knowledge of military processes, methodologies, and orders

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

-BA or BS degree in CS, Cybersecurity, or Computer Engineering or 5 years of experience as a Cyberspace Operations Engineer in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree

-DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 IAM Level III Certification


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with the Joint Operational Planning Process as a participant in Joint or operational planning groups or teams

-Experience with working in the DoD at the Joint Staff, OSD, Service, or other major Headquarters Staff level, including the J3 or J5

-Experience in operating, integrating, configuring, or working with PIT or control systems preferred

-Possession of excellent detail, organizational, analytical, and problem–solving skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills


Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
