Data Analyst/Scientist, Senior

Key Role:

Perform as a data scientist with a focus on computer science to apply knowledge of and expertise in Excel, Hadoop, ElasticSearch, and statistical methods. Leverage expertise in requirements analysis, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and diagnosis or resolution. Use statistical methods on large data sets to characterize uncertainty through statistical methods. Leverage knowledge of large data set analysis, perform research, and ensure study results are properly interpreted and documented. Perform as a data analyst, applying advanced functional, technical, and analytical expertise to explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of designing inquiries that can provide a competitive advantage or address a pressing business problem by discovering patterns and previously hidden insights. Provide recommendations on how to leverage domain expertise to comprehend data origins and context to ensure consistency of data, merge data sources together, and help others to gain a better knowledge of data. Contribute to the comprehension of what problems need to be solved, what kind of data exists in the domain, how the problem space may be instrumented and measured, and how results can be presented to capture context and content.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with a scripting or high-level programming language, including Scala, Python, R, Java, and C++

-Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including using Excel for data manipulation

-Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis

-Knowledge of the operations research field and statistical methods

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree in CS, Physics, Statistics, or Mathematics

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with creating data visualizations using tools, including Kibana, Clik, Tableau, and Zeppelin

-Experience with multiple tools typically associated with the Big Data ecosystem, including Apache Pig, Apache Spark, Apache Hive, Apache Hadoop, Apache Storm, and Apache Kafka

-Experience with Cloudera Platform and tools

-Experience with developing applications using API functionality

-Experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms

-Experience with deploying applications in a Cloud environment

-Experience with designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms

-Knowledge of optimization techniques, including linear programming and tools commonly associated with these techniques

-Ability to comprehend the client’s business issues and data challenges quickly

-Ability to lead and work collaboratively on small cross–functional teams or across multiple projects as an SME

-Possession of excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

-Possession of excellent analytical and problem–solving skills, including working independently and addressing ad–hoc challenges
