Data Architect and Governance Lead

Key Role:

Build out modern data governance and management processes in support of a cutting-edge Big Data platform that is revolutionizing the way a large number of DoD clients operate. Combine data engineering expertise with innovation and vision to plan, design, strategize, and implement data governance and data management models and processes supporting the data life cycles of data acquisition, storage, transformation, and analytics. Work with multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, data scientists, developers, and data consumers to identify metadata elements and define strategy for tagging data across the environment. Implement a process for instituting and maintaining a common data model for all correlated datasets to map to on transformation and documenting associated data mapping. Identify and implement data management standards, processes, naming conventions, and policies for databases, tables, and HDFS folders and files.


Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience in working with modern relational databases, including MySQL or PostgreSQL

-2+ years of experience with architecting systems and data platforms

-1+ years of experience with Big Data systems, including Hadoop, HDFS, and Hive

-Secret clearance


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in working with enterprise and production systems

-Experience with working as an ETL developer and data engineer

-Experience with Agile software development

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Possession of excellent writing skills

-BS degree in CS, Information Systems, or a related field

-Hortonworks, Cloudera, or Big Data Certification
