Data Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Serve as an integral part of the data engineering component of a systems engineering team supporting the design, implementation, and management of databases and data delivery systems. Analyze existing database management systems (DBMS) schemas across multiple platforms, including UNIX, Windows, physical platforms, virtual platforms, and Cloud mission services. Develop and maintain logical and physical data models. Perform a database as a service (DBaaS) analysis of alternatives (AoA) study leveraging expertise in database design and implementation tools. Work with a team to ensure Big Data systems perform as expected by centrally unifying the control of operational procedures and automating the execution of infrastructure activities. Promote Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts for infrastructure automation throughout the database service offerings and drive enterprise digital IT transformation.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with Big Data systems

-Experience with relational database technologies, including but limited to MS SQL Server, Enterprise DB, or PostgreSQL

-Knowledge of concepts associated with structured data and relational databases

-TS/SCI clearance

-HS diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with site reliability engineering (SRE) concepts or DevOps

-Experience with Agile development

-Experience with automation in UNIX, Windows, and networking technology platforms and configuration management platforms, including Ansible, Chef, and Puppet
-Experience with DevOps- and ITIL-based operations methodologies

-Experience with facilitating IT systems to meet Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization (A&A) compliance standards for DoD risk management and vulnerability compliance

-Ability to train junior administrators in the O&M of database systems

-Ability to communicate across multiple task and functional groups

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-BS degree in CS, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, or a related field

-Database Computing Environment Certification

-Ability to obtain DoDI 8570.01 Level II Information Assurance compliance
