Data Scientist

Key Role:
Leverage expertise in various mathematical modeling and machine learning in a risk analysis framework to explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of discovering patterns and previously hidden insights. Build predictive models, which in turn can provide a competitive advantage or address a pressing business problem. Learn new programming languages and analysis tools and implement custom algorithms within Cloud environments using both CPU and GPU capabilities, when needed. Work with scientists on difficult risk–related engineering problems and business leaders with minimal mathematics backgrounds.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with extracting information from disparate data sources and merging them together for statistical analysis

-Ability to learn Python, Java, R, and similar computer languages

-Ability to learn advanced mathematical concepts and statistical techniques

-Ability to integrate mathematical concepts with computer programming techniques

-BA or BS degree and 5 years of experience with analyzing data or MA or MS degree and 2 years of experience with analyzing data

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with R, Python, SAS, S+, Java, C++, or a similar language

-Knowledge of Big Data computing, including Amazon Web Services, Hadoop, or Spark

-Knowledge of risk analysis, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and clustering algorithms

-PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, CS, Engineering, or a related Heavy STEM field
