Defense Policy Analyst, Senior

Key Role:

Research for US government personnel review and policy issues to counter global drug trafficking, and other illicit threat network activities that threaten US national security interests. Conduct assessments of changes to the international political-military environment and the potential impacts of DoD and client efforts to counter these illicit activities.  Provide advice and recommendations to client decision makers regarding the implications of existing or proposed changes to client’s international agreements, military sales, security cooperation investments, and similar activities on counter-drug and counter-transnational organized crime activities. Analyze national security policy issues related to DoD support of drug control program objectives, identify stakeholder equities, and assist client’s personnel in developing responsive programs in coordination with offices in OSD, the Joint staff, Combatant Commands, military departments, Defense agencies, intelligence community, and other government departments, and law enforcement partners. Conduct a portfolio management and quality assurance program to improve decision-making, strategic alignment, and overall quality of counter-drug and counter-transnational organized crime portfolios.

Basic Qualifications:
-10+ years of experience with providing services to senior general or flag officers in the US armed forces or SES levels within the DoD or other government agency

-Ability to translate highly technical information into plain language for effective communication with DoD and other US government staff in the performance of all duties, tasks, and services

-Top Secret clearance

-MA or MS degree

Additional Qualifications:
-Knowledge of US counter-narcotics programs and global threat topics including countering transnational organized crime

-TS/SCI clearance preferred
