Earth Science and High-End Computing Programs Support Specialist

Key Role:
Work independently and with teammates to provide program management support to two clients, including participating in interagency and international activities, identifying and reporting program results, analyzing the development and implementation strategic policy initiatives, and coordinating staff and external contractor activities. Assist with document reviews in coordination with colleagues on behalf of client staff and collect and summarize science highlights and results from projects funded by client programs. Respond to periodic requests from the client to collect and organize program materials for presentations and identify relevant program-funded science results to summarize in response to internal and external requests. Support the development of the client’s contributions to various internal reporting and communications documents. Advise client and agency leadership on policies, procedures, and tools to improve advanced planning and resource management decision-making. Interface with client staff and contractors to manage day-to-day operations of the client’s program and oversee implementation of policy decisions. Organize semi-annual reviews of select client-funded computational projects.

Basic Qualifications:
-3+ years of experience in a program or office focused on science or environmental issues
-Ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
-Ability to organize and facilitate small meetings, including taking meeting notes and collecting action items
-Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, as needed
-Ability to obtain a security clearance
-BA or BS degree in Earth Science, Environmental Policy, IT, or CS

Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with earth science, climate change, and high performance computing
-Experience with developing, managing, or using data management systems
-Ability to read and understand scientific and technical papers
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including communicating with senior management and key stakeholders effectively
