Electro-Optic Engineer, Lead

Key Role:

Serve as a laser and electro-optic engineer to provide technical services and recommendations for executing Army head, body, or weapons mounted sensor programs. Provide technical support and analysis in the evaluation of sensor prototypes and systems, including thermal imagers, image intensifiers, and lasers to Army partners. Evaluate design efforts to ensure integration of all the engineering disciplines and adequacy of the analyses performed and optimize size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C). Conduct and monitor lab, contractor, and field testing to assess system performance and compliance with requirements. Evaluate system performance against specification requirements and assess the risk of meeting user and specification requirements. Determine or evaluate analysis needed to investigate failures or performance issues and ensure appropriate and complete root cause corrective action is identified, validated, and implemented in all products, as required. Recommend approaches to implement electro-optic system level components into prototypes capable of achieving user requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

-10+ years of experience as an electro-optical engineer performing analysis of electro-optical (EO) sensor systems, conducting modeling, simulation, and data analysis of visible and infrared optical sensors, and interacting with senior staff and department management to solve challenging technical problems that arise on EO sensor system programs

-Experience with electro-optic engineering development, prototyping, integrating, and testing

-Ability to lead engineering efforts on assigned programs with minimal oversight from the government lead

-Secret clearance required

-BS degree in Electrical or Optics Engineering or Physics required

-DAWIA Level II SPRDE Certification or 10+ years of experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation, including specifications, engineering drawings, system interface requirements and engineering changes, initiating and reviewing engineering change proposals and waivers or deviations for technical merit, conducting physical and functional configuration audits, and recommending approaches to implement electro-optic system level components into prototype capable of achieving user requirements

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
