Energy Communications Specialist

Key Role:

Provide innovative solutions to the DoD, Department of Energy, and a range of federal government clients on the cutting-edge of energy resilience, conservation, renewable energy solutions, and utility privatization. Build collaborative relationships, engage with stakeholders, promote their initiatives, affect policy decisions, and foster a culture of energy awareness. Provide a range of communications solutions to help clients meet their communications challenges, including energy behavior change, social marketing, annual awareness campaigns, media outreach, event planning, leadership messaging, stakeholder outreach, such as congress, energy industry, and other federal agencies, Web development, print product design and development, and social media. Demonstrate prowess in writing a variety of different types of materials, including speeches, PowerPoint presentations, official correspondence, fact sheets, Web content, and blog posts. Support day-to-day communications tasks, including media outreach, contact database management, in-person client briefings, media tracking, Web and social media updates, and collateral development. Develop relationships across teams to research content, facilitate cross team collaboration, and identify emerging communications opportunities.  


Basic Qualifications:
-2+ years of experience in the energy industry or performing energy-related work and strategic communications work
-Experience with event planning, media relations, and other public relations activities
-Experience with social marketing and behavior change or change management communications
-Experience with a range of writing styles, including social marketing plans, speech writing, fact sheets, social media, formal correspondence, and campaigns
-Experience with using digital outreach and social media channels to engage stakeholders
-Experience in working with creative staff to develop compelling campaigns
-Knowledge of various research methodologies, including surveys, focus groups, and design thinking

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or English


Additional Qualifications:

-4+ years of experience in the energy industry or performing energy-related work
-Experience in or with supporting the Military
-Experience with government consulting or contracting
-MA or MS degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing
