Environment Artist, Mid

Key Role:

Leverage expertise in polygonal and sculpting to deliver photorealistic 3D environments and models using industry software, including Houdini, World Machine, World Creator, L3DT, TerraTools, Maya, Modo, ZBrush, and 3DS Max. Create high quality game environments, including geo-typical and geo-specific 3D worlds and levels using assets, geometry manipulation, particle effects, texturing, and environment beautification. Produce consistent aesthetic and technical quality throughout the asset pipeline and optimize assets for a variety of performance and memory requirements. Work collaboratively with the team to create game environments and assets while maintaining or exceeding a consistent level of productivity, meeting deadlines, and producing high-quality work. Meet development schedules, support the integration and testing of the developed applications, and participate in design reviews for software under development. This position is located in Fayetteville, NC.

Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience as an environment artist in the game industry

-Experience with significant contributions to one or more shipped AAA games

-Experience with using 3DS Max, Maya and Photoshop, ZBrush or Mudbox, and Substance Painter or Designer

-Knowledge of physically based rendering, including PBR, PBM, and PBL

-Ability to produce AAA-quality environment art assets

-Ability to model clean, seamless models from concept art

-Ability to follow existing guidelines, policies, procedures or project parameters

-Ability to show a portfolio demonstrating game art and environments

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with modeling and development in the ArmA game series or Virtual Battlespace, including VBS2 or VBS3

-Experience with terrain development in the Real Virtuality game enging

-Experience with TerraTools, Quixel, Mari, Marvelous Designer, and Vegetation creation tools

-Experience with modular level construction

-Experience with creating concept art

-Knowledge of one or more game engines, including CryEngine, Unreal, or Unity

-Knowledge of Unreal Engine 4

-Knowledge of hard-surface and organic modeling

-Knowledge of physically-based shading materials and lighting

-Knowledge of procedural art systems in games

-Knowledge of architecture

-Ability to be a self-motivated problem solver who works well independently

-Ability to have passion for making games

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Possession of excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills

-Possession of excellent foundational skills, including composition, design, and color theory

-Possession of excellent traditional art skills, including figure drawing, landscape, painting, composition, and perspective a plus
