Epidemiology Specialist

Key Role:

Provide technical capabilities to identify and evaluate epidemiology systems and procedures related to foreign country capacity and capability to survey, detect, diagnose, and report on outbreaks of pathogens and diseases of security concern. Apply technical knowledge of identifying and evaluating health systems and procedures. Perform research, conduct interviews related to, and assessments of animal and human public health programs, including epidemiological analysis and investigation, disease reporting and communication, and related laws and regulations and write reports on outcomes of research and assessments of disease surveillance programs and systems, including recommendations. Interface with client’s science and program management personnel and work collaboratively with a team of technical subject matters experts in science, disease surveillance, biosafety, and biosecurity and project management specialists.


Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with providing epidemiology expertise  

-Ability to evaluate infectious disease epidemiology and active or passive disease surveillance programs either at a research institution or a public health agency

-Ability to work on a team

-Ability to travel more than 30% of the time

-Ability to follow standard office computer systems 

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-MA or MS degree


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with designing and conducting infectious disease epidemiology research

-Experience in the field with active surveillance in a veterinary medicine environment or active vector surveillance program, including international

-Experience in working with biodefense, biosecurity, bio-surveillance, or health security

-Experience with consulting

-Experience with working internationally

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-Secret clearance

-MA or MS degree in an Epidemiology or Biomedical Science field
