F-35 System Safety Engineer

Key Role:

Provide analytical support to the F-35 Joint Program Office safety lead during the planning, documentation, and execution of all F-35 safety activities. Review and conduct safety evaluations of F-35 change requests, variance requests, deficiency reports, action requests, and test reports and data provided from test activities or fleet units. Perform evaluations to encompass F-35 system designs and operations of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, avionics, flight controls, environmental control systems, including egress, weapon integration, secondary power, propulsion, and software systems. Perform evaluations to incorporate the safety characteristics of the system, system integration, software interfaces, and specification compliance. Operate in all designated modes for the F-35 of the overall system. Broaden skill sets in systems engineering, enterprise planning, international, Foreign Military Sales (FMS), development, production, sustainment, air vehicle, weapons, avionics, mission systems, software, including Joint Reprogramming Enterprise (JRE), Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS), Propulsion and Prognostic Health Management (PHM), and integrated test force teams. Perform specific engineering and technical tasks, including total life cycle technical management with development, test and evaluation (T&E), production, and operations and sustainment of the F-35 Air System.


Basic Qualifications:

-6 years of experience in engineering

-2+ years of experience as a system safety engineer or a technician in supporting aviation acquisition programs

-Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree


Additional Qualifications:

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Navy Principal for Safety (PFS), or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification preferred

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
