Geographic Information Systems Expert, Senior

Key Role:
​Leverage technical guidance and expertise to clients on projects involving Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Apply knowledge of GIS and map data for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of geographic information provided by geodetic surveys, aerial photographs, and satellite data. Perform research and study and prepare maps and other spatial data in digital or graphics form for legal, social, political, educational, and design purposes. Design and evaluate algorithms, data structures, and user interfaces for GIS and mapping systems. Communicate effective solutions and recommendations to the client in oral and written forms. Develop high-level schematics, conceptual design, and cost estimates to support recommendations for improvements and optimization development and maintenance efforts for mission critical challenges. Develop requirements from inception to conclusion for complex programs.


Basic Qualifications:
-10+ years of experience with working as an expert on GIS

-Experience with DOE programs related to grid reliability, Cybersecurity, and electrical systems
-Experience with working on complex projects independently or on teams of larger projects involving engineering and analytical studies
-Knowledge of data sources for maps and geographic information

-Knowledge of GIS concepts, recent developments, and research
-Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
-Ability to obtain a security clearance
-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with electricity transmission and distribution systems, renewable energy, or distributed generation
-Experience with consulting for industry or government clients

-Possession of excellent interpersonal skills
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-MA or MS degree in Engineering or a related field

-Completion of undergraduate or graduate coursework in GIS
