Hardware Engineer

The Challenge:

Are you looking for an opportunity to not just develop hardware, but to build tools that will be used for lawful investigations of criminals and threat actors?  As a hardware engineer, you can solve unique problems with custom solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment. We’re looking for an engineer with the skills needed to plan, design, and deliver custom FPGA-based tools that are used in digital investigations. We aren’t designing space systems, so you can forget about years of acceptance testing, and this isn’t mass production either.  Our team prioritizes speed to field and filling the gaps in digital investigations.  We make unique tools and you will drive them from vision to the hands of investigators.

This role is more than just writing VHDL. We need a hardware engineer who will use their passion to learn about new high-speed busses, processors, and memory architectures.  Be ready to take things apart, prototype, and “own” the entire hardware process. We primarily use Altera tools for FPGA development, and as a small hardware operation, you’ll be involved in everything from design and planning to troubleshooting test hardware.  Additionally, you’ll work in a collaborative team to of embedded developers and engineers to brainstorm and engineer new digital investigative capabilities.  Join us as we build systems to change law enforcement for the better.

Build Your Career: 

Work in a fast-paced and multi-disciplinary team to enable digital forensic investigations. Collaborate with law enforcement developing tools and capabilities that target cutting edge technology used by criminals and threat actors. Work in an electrical engineering lab and build tools for interfacing, debugging, and testing embedded electronics. Work on hardware designs that are often fully-custom, low-volume, and require innovative solutions to deliver within mission-driven timelines.

You Have:

-3+ years of experience with schematic and PCB capture and assembly using software, including Altium

-3+ years of experience with FPGA development using VHDL or Verilog

-1+ years of experience with embedded systems development testing and debugging in a lab setting, including ARM and MIPS

-1+ years of experience with high-speed digital design

-Top Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree in Engineering

Nice If You Have:

-Experience with flash memory technology, physical architecture, and interfaces

-Experience in working with PCB design shops, assembly technicians, and mechanical engineers to deliver completed products

-Experience with C/C++, Python, or other programming languages

-Experience with Git, Subversion, or other version control tools

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required.
