HBSS SME

Key Role:

Serve as a Host Based Security System (HBSS) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide end users tiered-level customer support by coordinating software, hardware, network, and security issue resolution. Install, configure, troubleshoot, and provide maintenance and training and day-to-day support for fleet units, including guidance, account creation, ePO functionality, primarily follow SOPs and TTPs, and escalate other issues. Facilitate the delivery of HBSS SME tracking, artifacts, and documentation to the HBSS overarching project management, provide support to fleet units for all matters dealing with HBSS ashore ePO management, and escalate issues or problems to support solution development. Manage, track, and report policy exceptions of IAW Navy TTPs and SOPs, report compliance status of IAW Navy mandates and management direction, implement HBSS deployment and policy strategies of IAW approved Navy TTPs and SOPs, manage ticketing system, monitor and analyze rogue system detection, and respond and report IAW approved Navy TTPs and SOPs. Verify automated reports are being sent out, as needed, create server tasks and automated reports, review HBSS threat events, and maintain a presence in the HBSS chat room. Identify potential shortfalls in watch floor processes and procedures and provide recommendations for potential watch floor processes improvements. Review and provide guidance on the Navy’s distributed Defense Cyber Operations structure and procedures and assist with the development and execution of training and instruction to personnel in proper policy and procedures as they relate to Distributed Defensive Cyber Operations.


Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with IT

-2+ years of experience in a previous help desk position

-Experience in working with the HBSS or CND

-Experience with DoD or DoN Cybersecurity

-Ability to work an evening or mid shift work

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-HS diploma or GED

-CompTIA Security+ Certification

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
