High Frequency Communications Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Perform telecommunications network analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance for the entire company. Perform analysis requiring knowledge of theory and practices. Perform engineering studies to determine requirements and long-range engineering plans and designs of telecommunication systems. Support paging, LAN/WAN, VRU, voice mail, cellular and phone systems, and other telecommunication systems, as necessary. Leverage knowledge of a particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments. Review progress and evaluate results and plan and assign personnel for given projects or tasks. Recommend changes in procedures, operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision, and review progress with management.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with high frequency (HF) and other related radio communications equipment and systems

-Experience with 2G and 3G ALE networks and systems

-Experience with MIL-STD-188-110D data waveforms, modems, and emerging wideband HF technology and encryption methods

-Experience with HF ionospheric propagation paths and impairments and space weather impacts

-Experience with radio propagation prediction software for HF, including VOACAP and PropMon 2000 and military tactical and strategic HF radio systems and networks

-Experience in working with government and military technical experts, contract management, and field users

-Ability to prepare written technical and project management documentation and presentations

-Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BS degree in Engineering or Physics

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with military tactical radio communications systems

-Experience with aviation communications systems

-Experience with public safety communications systems

-Experience with IP networking components and systems

-Experience with RF systems in the laboratory and field

-Knowledge of software defined radio

-Ability to code in Python

-MS degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field
