High Frequency System Engineer

Key Role:

Work with a team of High Frequency (HF) system engineering experts in the Pacific and Washington DC areas. Evaluate existing HF systems and design new systems to meet coverage, reliability, and availability requirements. Perform HF testing and measurement to support component selection and system design. Perform analyses to predict installed antenna and HF system performance, identify interference concerns, ensure HF safety, draft installation, and cutover plans for HF systems, and assist with installation and cutover, as needed. Develop assessment reports and make recommendations on potential systems to be used and instantiated in the long-term. Engage with clients, prepare written technical reports, and deliver presentations to clients.


Basic Qualifications:

-8+ years of experience with Radio Frequency (RF) and HF systems operations, architecture, and engineering

-Experience with analyzing large data sets to identify potential trends and gaps and evaluate and forecast next generation communications capabilities

-Experience with using RF and HF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers and network analyzers

-Experience with configuring and deploying IP networking equipment, including routers and switches

-Experience with modeling and simulating RF and HF systems, including preparation of coverage analyses and GIS mapping

-Experience with installing, testing, and maintaining RF and HF systems and equipment

-Experience with using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to conduct analysis, develop point or issue papers, and articulate findings and recommendations to the client and across the DoD community

-Active Secret clearance

-AS degree required


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with federal or non-federal spectrum allocation and frequency licensing and authorization processes, including FCC ULS and Spectrum XXI

-Experience with developing RF and HF link budgets and designing antenna and transmission line systems

-Experience with RF and HF interference prevention and resolution

-Experience with analyzing and implementing a variety of wireless communications technologies, including Wi-Fi, land mobile radio (LMR), HF radio, and satellite communications

-Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-BA or BS degree in Electronics Engineering, Technology, or IT
