Information System Security Officer

Key Role:

Provide leadership, team coordination, and subject matter expertise in support of information assurance (IA) activities, including the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) process in support of a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) component of DHS. Create and maintain Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) plans, risk assessments, security plans, continuous monitoring, and contingency plans in support of the A&A process in accordance with NIST SP 800–53 Rev4 and DHS 4300 series guidance. Conduct policy analysis, product assurance evaluations, and security posture presentations. Analyze all phases of the system development life cycle aka ICE SLM, to identify and manage the security implications of system engineering activities and provide corresponding recommendations to decision–makers and system engineers and administrators. Participate in the change, configuration, and release management process to ensure an appropriate security level is in the systems life cycles. Perform security engineering activities, including collaborating with system engineers to identify and implement security controls, perform manual and automated security testing, and verify compliance of system configuration with applicable hardening guidance.

Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with writing documents for A&A and RMF for Civil government D/As based on NIST SP 800–53 Rev4

-2+ years of experience with participating in the design and testing of NIST 800–53 security controls for TCP/IP networks and information systems, including Windows– and Linux–based systems

-Experience with manual and automated vulnerability assessments

-Experience with the design and operation of security controls for systems

-Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with acting as the Security SME for IT development projects

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
