Laboratory Engineer

Key Role:

Define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret developmental tests for new and modified products or product components. Investigate and resolve operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel. Provide technical support and advice to other engineering groups and guide and direct junior personnel on the set-up and performance of tests. Act as a liaison with outside suppliers in establishing or modifying specifications for purchased items and devise and apply testing procedures for parts or sub-assemblies received from outside vendors. Participate in the development, maintenance, and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs. Plan, conduct, and supervise assignments, review progress, and evaluate results. Plan and assign personnel for given projects or tasks, recommend changes in procedures, operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions, and review progress with management.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience in a laboratory environment

-Experience with laboratory and field testing, including conducting tests, reducing test data, and analyzing results

-Experience with conducting tests to characterize full- and reduced-scale models, mock-ups, prototypes, subsystems, and components

-Experience with representative testing in one or more of the following areas: source characterization, antenna field mapping, electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing, compatibility testing, functional, environmental effects, performance assessments, or waveform characterization

-Experience with developing test plans, test simulation and emulation, test documentation, safety plans, risk hazard assessments, and standard operating procedures

-Experience with capturing and storing data during test events and data acquisition systems and components, including Data Acquisition (DAQ) software

-Experience with developing, assembling, monitoring, and operating mission support systems and instrumentation, including communication systems, data acquisition and processing systems, power systems, distributed control systems, programmable logic systems, alarm systems, industrial systems, or computer information systems

-Experience with the development, calibration, and operation of specialized hardware and diagnostic equipment that is used to measure quantities, including electric and magnetic fields, high voltages and currents, waveforms, radiated field patterns, and RF attenuation

-Secret clearance

-HS diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)

-Experience with Linux-based computer operations

-Experience with LabVIEW software

-Ability to demonstrate meticulous lab practices and habits

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
