LAN/Network Performance Engineer

Key Role:

Work as a LAN and network performance engineer serving as an important member of the team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Electronic Health Records Modernization (OEHRM) program. Support the large-scale software rollout in VHA hospitals and clinical outreach facilities. Support OEHRM infrastructure network engineering, help design and validate existing OEHRM network plans, and conduct capacity planning in support of OEHRM modernization.

Basic Qualifications

-Experience with assessing wireless LAN vs wired tradeoffs and the overall impact to cabling, cooling, and other infrastructure concerns

-Experience with using Visio to develop architecture and engineering documentation

-Experience with the use of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and the hardware required to implement it

-Knowledge of VA network capacity planning and network management activities, including with VA OIT ITOPS

-BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent and 15 years of experience in a professional work environment or 8 additional years of experience in a professional work environment may be substituted for degree
