Linux System Administrator

Key Role:

Design and develop simple voice, data, and multi–media communications network solutions and employ knowledge of voice and data transport facilities, protocols, operating systems, and standards and regulations for public and private data networks. Assess usage and required capacities based on analysis of existing and emerging products and services. Assist with locating, evaluating, and specifying products, services, and vendors and work with vendors to evaluate new products and resolve equipment design problems. Prepare reports to inform and advise senior technical staff and management, as necessary. Lead tasks, including planning, execution, staff oversight, and status reporting for significant initiatives. Maintain responsibility for effective installation and configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Improve the stability and performance of the system, maintain and improve the security posture of the systems, perform continuous monitoring of system health, and troubleshoot issues that arise.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with system administration in Linux environments, shell scripting, analyzing log files, managing user accounts and groups, configuring iptables, and setting up mail services

-Active Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree in Engineering or CS

-DoD 8570.1 Workplace Improvement Plan IAT Level II Compliant Certification, including CompTIA Security+ (SY0–301) or other required

-Linux+, including CompTIA Linux+, RedHat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Certification

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Web–based technologies, including reverse proxy servers, SSL certificate configuration, three–tier architecture, service–oriented architecture, enterprise service bus, http, and differences between browsers

-Ability to multi–task

-Ability to be an independent, self–starter

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with technical and non–technical personnel

-Active Top Secret clearance preferred
