Local Area Network Technician

Key Role:
Analyze local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, and selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring servers, clients, and switches. Resolve interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms while managing the inter-networking of various operating systems, including Windows and Linux across LAN and WAN. Monitor the performance and stability of networks, configure systems to user environments, conduct research, recommend network and server hardware and software solutions for large, complex networks, and monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, or evaluate hardware, software, and other network problems. Analyze, maintain, and implement network support and archiving procedures, implement and manage network policies, procedures, and standards, and enforce security procedures. Maintain technical and tactical proficiency in software and training support package (TSP) products for multiple military capabilities. Test and troubleshoot hardware and software to ensure minimal downtime of systems using capability documents and performance of operational readiness tests in preparation for training events. Analyze and document flaws in system configuration and implement corrections while ensuring availability to assist with training soldiers in the use of components of the various LVCG-IA and MCIS in support of training exercises, participate in special projects, and perform additional duties to support client requirements, as required.

Basic Qualifications:
-Experience with network administration and network engineering, including expertise in Cisco switch configuration
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office and using official system program and product manager training products or commercial software and the hardware developer’s technical and training material
-Ability to manage software updates to hardware packages or systems to maintain network compliance standards and reimage hard drives
-Ability to deliver operator-level training in a classroom environment in accordance with established Mission Training Complex TSPs
-Ability to support training exercises in a semi-austere environment, as necessary while being a self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced environment
-Ability to obtain a security clearance

Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with conducting training and training exercises for military service members
-Experience with military service, including command post operations and digital master gunner and battle staff operations 
-Knowledge of Cisco switch configurations for 3560, 3750, and 3850 
-Knowledge of Command Post of the Future (CPOF), Joint Capabilities Release (JCR), Virtual Battle Simulation version 3 (VBS3), Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC) and system subcomponents, Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation (JCATS), Multiple Unified Simulation Environment (MUSE) or Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG), Distributed Common Ground System – Army (DCGS-A), and Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS)
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-Secret clearance preferred
-AA or AS degree in CS preferred
-CCNA or Security+ Certifications
