Material Lab Manager

Key Role:
Support the PLE Materials Characterization and Failure Analysis team of an Army client. Provide subject matter expert support on lab equipment operation, material knowledge, test development, testing, data capture, and reporting. Provide project management support to technical efforts within the lab. This position is not available for remote delivery and is located in Warren, MI.

Basic Qualifications:
-8+ years of experience with characterization and failure analysis of various materials, including composites, rubbers, ceramics, and joining technologies for these materials, and coatings or plating technologies
-Knowledge of project management
-Ability to coordinate research, development, processing, testing, and implementation of metallic or non-metallic materials for tank-automotive equipment
-Ability to formulate purchase descriptions for approved projects
-Ability to review proposals to assist with selecting a contractor or facility 
-Ability to advise the design agency on the appropriate material to be used on a given specification
-Ability to participate in meetings with scientific, engineering, and administrative representatives
-Ability to obtain a security clearance
-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with conducting a wide range of materials engineering investigations, including materials selection, design, fabrication, and failure analysis preferred
-Ability to evaluate physical and mechanical tests for materials characterization preferred
-Ability to evaluate emerging materials and processes for suitability in the defense industry preferred
-Ability to prepare test directives, test monitoring, test modification, and results evaluation for the organization
-Ability to investigate materials relative to failures of structure and protective coatings for the organization
-Secret clearance
