Mechanical Engineer

Key Role: 

Perform mechanical engineering design, analysis, and integration of complex DoD weapon systems spanning research, development, testing, operation, and maintenance. Design, analyze, prototype, specify, fabricate, test, and evaluate complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, thermo-mechanical, and opto-mechanical components, sub-systems, and systems. Coordinate the efforts of drafters, technicians, and machine shop personnel. Conduct independent technical investigations and support development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and environmental requirements. Contribute to supplier development and test activities.

Basic Qualifications:

-4+ years of experience with mechanical engineering design and analysis

-Experience with engineering design and analysis software

-Experience with model-based design, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BS degree in Mechanical Engineering

Additional Qualifications: 

-Experience with the end-to-end cycle of highly-engineered mechanical components from conception to design, specification, analysis, fabrication, and testing

-Experience with military specifications

-Experience with hands-on mechanical and system integration of electro-optic systems, including opto-mechanical tolerance analysis under various military environmental conditions

-Experience with creative problem-solving and innovative solution-development

-Knowledge of stress and heat transfer analysis ranging from back-of-envelope calculations to finite element analysis, including conduction, convection, radiation, and static and dynamic loading conditions

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations and technical writing

-Completion of graduate-level heat transfer, stress, dynamics, opto-mechanical, and thermo-fluid analysis work
