Medical Benefits and Reimbursement Policy Analyst

Key Role:

Conduct policy research and analysis focused on medical benefits and reimbursement under a federal health program, including updates and maintenance of 20+ medical reimbursement systems. Research commercial and federal health care best practices and policies, review and analyze complex technical, programmatic, or policy issues regarding health benefits management, reimbursement methodologies, cost containment, and health program efficiency and effectiveness. Work with clinicians and government personnel to process and support reimbursement policies impacting payment for new and existing benefits. Perform special analyses, studies, and evaluation of health care requirements necessary for implementation by statute or agency direction. Advise on and analyze the formulation and development of legislative amendments, regulations, guidelines, and policies or procedures regarding national managed care issues. Prepare information or decision papers and briefs to provide potential options and recommendations.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

-Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis while maintaining flexibility and adaptability in a complex environment where requirements can be ambiguous or vague

-Ability to work independently and in a team environment while balancing multiple simultaneous tasks
-Ability to analyze the development of concise, relevant policy materials for distribution to various stakeholders, including beneficiaries, Congressional staff, clinicians, and internal audiences

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with commercial or federal health plans or health systems

-Knowledge of current trends in healthcare delivery systems

-Knowledge of medical policy and benefits

-Ability to use creativity and innovative thinking to solve problems
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-Possession of excellent analysis skills
-Public Trust clearance

-BA or BS degree in Finance, Healthcare Administration, Business Management, Statistics, or a related field preferred
