Network Designer, Mid

Key Role:

Design and develop moderately complex voice, data, and multi-media communications network solutions. Analyze network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements. Incorporate capabilities of next-generation transmission, switching, and routing equipment and specify router configuration. Ensure network integration across all its components, typically including ATM, IP routers, circuit switches, traffic shapers, cache servers, and gateways. Document network design and topology and procedures for cost and performance analyses. Apply in-depth professional-level knowledge to independently solve a full range of complex problems. Serve as a trusted go-to person by management.


Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience as a network engineer, network architect, data communication analyst, computer systems analyst, network administrator, network systems architect, network solutions architect, or network design architect

-Experience with the design, test, and inspection of the Intelligence Community (IC) computer data communications systems, including wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), and Internet

-Experience with the analysis and organization of corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling and planning

-Ability to determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks

-Ability to plan and implement network upgrades

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

-HS diploma or GED


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with determining specific network hardware or software requirements, including platforms, interfaces, bandwidths, or routing schemas

-Knowledge of adjusting network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands

-Ability to communicate with clients, sales staff, or marketing staff to determine client needs

-Ability to coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades

-Ability to develop and implement solutions for network problems

-Ability to develop conceptual, logical, or physical network designs

-Ability to develop procedures to track and report network availability, reliability, capacity, or usage

-Ability to develop or recommend network security measures, including firewalls, network security audits, or automated security probes

-Ability to estimate time and materials needed to complete projects

-Ability to evaluate network designs to determine if requirements are met efficiently and effectively

-Ability to comprehend, embrace, and implement IC business transformation, processes, and structures

-Ability to develop and tailor architecture briefings and responses to OMB and other senior IC executives

-Ability to communicate with external organizations to gain knowledge with other Enterprise architectures

-BA or BS degree in Engineering, IT, or a technical field

-CCNA, CISSP, or Security+ Certification a plus
