Network Engineer/Data Scientist, Senior

Key Role:

Analyze complex local and wide area shipboard or shore network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, and selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices. Develop network topologies. Resolve difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms. Configure systems to the user environment, serving as a systems administrator. Manage large data sets as they apply to complex mathematical systems and apply knowledge of data fusion and both algorithm and script development. Act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership to junior employees in networking and data science fields, as needed. This position is located in San Diego, CA.


Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with data mining or modeling and machine learning, including analysis of large data sets
-4+ years of experience with shipboard and shore Wide Area Networks (WANs), including development of network topologies and systems administration duties

-Experience with Hadoop, C++, Python, and SQL for data management

-Knowledge of commercial and military Satellite Communications (SATCOM) links and encryption technologies with respect to shipboard or shore networks

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BS degree in Science, Engineering, Physics or Mathematics


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with advanced technical writing and scientific journal research or publications preferred

-Experience with implementing scientific concepts in real world scenarios a plus

-Experience with the defense of scientific techniques and approaches to networking, data science, and related fields using peer review and rigorous scientific validation preferred

-Ability to show modeling and simulation expertise using Bayesian approaches and Monte Carlo methods preferred
-Secret clearance
-MA or MS degree in a Physics or Mathematics field preferred; PhD degree in a Physics or Mathematics field a plus
