Network Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Work with Navy/Marine Corps (NMC) clients on ship and shore network projects performing administration, installation and de-installation, test, operations, and troubleshooting of Cisco routers and switches. Support a variety of firewalls, Virtual Private Network (VPN) technologies, and Information Assurance (IA) products for DoD networks. Work with senior engineers in a team environment deploying configuration changes to networks. Update technical manuals and training materials to reflect network changes applied and field support, when needed. This position is located in San Diego, CA.


Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with supporting DoD networks using Cisco routers and switches

-Experience with the installation and de-installation, operation, maintenance, or troubleshooting of DoD Local and Wide Area Network (LAN and WAN) environments

-Experience with help desk or systems administration on a Windows, UNIX, or Linux-based system

-Knowledge of basic network topologies

-Ability to document, edit, and maintain technical documentation related to network systems and related training materials

-Ability to be a self-starter and occasionally travel

-Active Secret clearance

-AA or AS degree and 2+ years of experience with IT or BA or BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in prior Navy and DoD military systems and working on one or more of the following systems: Automated Digital Network System (ADNS), Integrated Shipboard Network System (ISNS), Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) networks, Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System (CENTRIXS), Submarine Local Area Network (SubLAN), Tactical Command System (TCS) or Video Information Exchange System (VIXS), Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES), or OCONUS Navy Enterprise Network (ONE-NET)

-Experience with the configuration of VLANs on layer 3 switches

-Experience with creating network architecture for pre- and post-planning of integration of Command and Control (C2) systems

-Experience with configuring firewall ports and protocols

-Experience with Wireshark to implement basic network analysis and Visio for network diagrams

-Knowledge of 4G LTE system or high-speed broadband wireless architectures preferred

-Knowledge of open source software for network performance analysis and testing preferred

-Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule to meet customer needs preferred

-Ability to configure routers for local and backhaul network traffic 

-Possession of excellent comprehension and technical writing skills

-Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or UNIX, Linux, or Windows Operating System (OS) Certifications
