Network Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Design, provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain telecommunications systems hardware and software and related infrastructure equipment in a lab environment. Provide day-to-day support of the telecommunications and wireless laboratory, including network, design, and operations of the data and voice networks, such as wired and wireless, enterprise network architecture, network technology evaluations, protocol analysis, configuration, documentation, research, complex trouble shooting, and analysis. Ensure that the system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to all applicable DoD, Department of Army, and local regulations and policies. Perform a variety of engineering studies and analysis and recommend hardware and software improvements to the overall network design. Study traffic to determine optimal system configurations. Apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts to job assignments and contribute to the development of new ideas and principles. Participate actively in capacity planning, network monitoring, and technology mentoring and report to the government IT lab manager.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with commercial network products, including routers, switches, and firewalls

-Experience with IP routing, switching, and network optimization

-Experience in working with modems and multiplexing equipment

-Knowledge of networking technologies

-Knowledge of Voice over IP systems

-Ability to support technology insertion testing for emerging Army client networks requirements and capabilities

-TS/SCI clearance

-HS diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications

-3+ years of experience with in-depth mobile wireless

-2+ years of experience with RF systems, requirements analysis and verification, integration, or test and evaluation and working in lab environments

-Experience with 2G, 3G, and 4G systems

-Knowledge of QoS, LTE, or mobile systems

-Knowledge of RF wave propagation

-Knowledge of Nokia software and services

-Ability to comprehend and operate RF test analyzers

-BA or BS degree

-Security+ Certification

-CCNA Certification a plus
