Network Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Analyze local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices. Resolve interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms, including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and similar. Manage internetworking of various operating systems, including windows NT/95 and one or more versions of UNIX, across both LAN/WAN. Monitor performance and stability of networks. Configure systems to user environments. Support acquisition of hardware and software, including subcontractor services, as needed.


Basic Qualifications:

-8 years of experience working as a Network Engineer, Network Systems Analyst, Network Manager, Network Technician, Network Installation Technician, Network Operations Engineer, or Communications Hardware Specialist

-Experience in development, implementation, and support of voice communication systems

- Experience in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications, including LAN, WAN, Voice and Video, requirements, designs and orders 

-Ability to install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wider area network (WAN), client internet network, Intranet and Internet and other data communications systems or a segment of a network system

-Ability to maintain network hardware and software and monitor a network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability

-Ability to provide network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures

-Ability to evaluate new network technologies and make recommendations to project managers regarding the integration of these technologies into the existing network

-Ability to plan new network configurations and integration into existing networks to maintain optimal performance

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

-HS diploma or GED


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in diagnosing hardware and software problems, and replacing defective components, performing data backups, and disaster recovery operations

-Experience in maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, system software, applications software, and all configurations

-Ability to develop network-related documentation

-Ability to prepare design presentations and proposals for staff or customers

-Ability to coordinate with configuration management and implementation teams

-Possession of excellent teamwork skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-BA or BS in Engineering or 12 years of experience in Engineering in lieu of a degree

-Network Certifications, including CCNA, Security + or CISSP
