Network Engineer

Key Role:

Analyze local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites, and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices. Resolve interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms, including e-mail, file transfers, multimedia, teleconferencing, and the like. Manage the internetworking of various operating systems, including Windows NT or 95 and one or more versions of UNIX, across both LAN/WAN. Monitor the performance and stability of networks. Configure systems to user environments. Support the acquisition of hardware and software and subcontractor services, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with Cisco or Juniper network switches, routers, and firewalls, including platforms, such as ASA, ISR, and MX

-Experience with configuring and troubleshooting SSL and IPSec VPNs, including performance tuning, security logging, and log analysis

-Experience with analyzing network traffic and using security event management and diagnostic tools, including Nessus, Splunk, SolarWinds, Sourcefire, HBSS, or Wireshark and full-packet capture solutions

-Ability to depict network diagrams accurately using Microsoft Visio and operate in a Microsoft Windows-based lab environment

-Ability to communicate complex network principles and designs to clients, including briefing to non-technical and technical personnel

-Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree required

-Security+ Certification required

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with mobile devices, including Apple iOS and Android

-Experience with Windows Server technologies, including AD, DNS, and DHCP functionality

-Experience with using VMware vSphere or vCenter to manage virtualized server environments

-Experience with network monitoring protocols, including SNMP, NetFlow, Network, and RMON

-Experience with working in coordination with the commercial mobile industry to assess mobile technologies for the US government

-Experience with implementing certificate-based encryption, including X.509 on network devices

-CCENT, CCNA, JNCIA, or higher Certification preferred
