Network Engineer

Key Role:

Maintain knowledge of the basics behind the Internet and its workings, including DNS, security, IP routing, HTTP, VPN, email routing, and SPAM. Configure and set up Cisco firewalls, VPN, and security appliances for access to vital business applications. Assist with the design of multi-server environments, including IP address schemes, DNS, and Ether-Channel, such as LACP. Configure and install client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems, administer security procedures, ensure system back-ups, and monitor and make recommendations to improve network performance. Maintain multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems, and regular maintenance with both. Troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware, software applications, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services. Apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts to job assignments and contribute to the development of new ideas and principles.

Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with networking in a professional environment

-Experience with deploying networks in commercial or government environments

-Experience with maintaining and configuring firewalls, routers, and switches

-Experience with troubleshooting network hardware and software

-Experience with operating across multiple tasks, working independently, and contributing to deliverables and performance metrics

-Experience with researching network OS vulnerabilities and plans to patch in a timely manner

-Experience with common network troubleshooting tools, including Wireshark and tcpdump

-Ability to travel up to 25% of the time required

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree in IT

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Microsoft Visio, Excel, and Word

-Experience with the migration and consolidation of data centers

-Knowledge of networking concepts, including DNS, ARP, NAT, Routing, VPN, VLAN, Port Channeling, and VRRP

-CCNA or equivalent Certification
