Network Engineer

Key Role:

Design and plan network communications systems and provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conduct testing of network design and maintain responsibility of technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways. Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide highly innovative and ingenious solutions. Take a leadership role in generating intellectual capital to help the firm grow business, and serve as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and programs.

Basic Qualifications:

-7+ years of experience in designing communications systems

-Knowledge of Cisco Routing and Switching, and network architecture planning

-Knowledge of remote administration and secure Virtual Private Networking (VPN)

-Knowledge of commercial encryption standards and related application IP networking

-Knowledge of VPN technologies, including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and IP Multicasting

-Knowledge of Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) IEEE standards: 802.11 a, b, g, n and application

to an enterprise network architecture

-TS/SCI clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience working in a challenging environment to support customer mission 

-Experience in communicating official traffic in the customer Electronic Messaging System (EMS)

-Knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) technology -Possession of excellent analysis and critical thinking skills

-Knowledge of Radio Frequency transport mediums to include cellular, microwave, and satellite communications

-Knowledge of wired data transport mediums, including category 5e and 6 and fiber optics

-Knowledge of EAP-TLS certificate-based encryption and radius authentication

-Knowledge of military communications

-Knowledge of satellite and wireless communications

-Ability to prepare and present briefings

-Ability to navigate and configure Linux operating systems

-Ability to travel

-Possession of excellent written and oral communication skills

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

-BA or BS degree in Engineering preferred; MA or MS degree in Engineering a plus

-Certified in CCIE and MCSE
