Network Systems Design Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Work as a subject matter expert (SME), senior level Systems Administrator across multiple network systems for government customer. Provide training and mentor-ship to junior staff, and input to internal and external clients on simulation technical issues, and assist with the physical layout of network architecture to produce a realistic training environment. Install, configure, maintain, optimize, operate, and troubleshoot Windows based and Linux based software in support of constructive simulation, including JLCCTC ERF, and MRF, systems and models, using rack mounted servers and Common Hardware Platforms (CHP). Maintain responsibility for Ethernet configuration, network and route troubleshooting, improving systems procedures, and maintaining connectivity with a suite of specialized application and database servers. Evaluate constructive simulation performance to ensure 100% network reliability during simulation exercises, including providing detailed documented feedback describing problems, recommended solutions, and priorities. Assist with the simulation development cycle by participating in the developer-lead integration events, and providing feedback to improve system software design and usability for the end users. Maintain responsibility of Authority To Operate (ATO) by conducting Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans on all systems to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate identified risks by server patching and system hardening measures, including updating and maintaining logical and network diagrams, hardware and software inventory lists, MOA and MOUs, Internal Operating Systems and installing security lockdowns on exercise systems, firewalls, network devices, SMARTNET Enclaves, and SharePoint servers in accordance with DoD Information Assurance Risk Management Framework (DIARMF) standards.

Basic Qualifications:

-4 years of experience in modeling and simulation

-Knowledge of troubleshoot processes for Windows based, and Linux based software in support of constructive simulation

-Ability to work extended hours, on varying shift schedules, for several days during exercises to support the simulation

-Ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of the simulation

-Ability to perform all duties as assigned

-Secret clearance

-AA or AS degree

-CompTIA Security + Certification

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Layer I and II routers and switches, preferred

-Experience in software testing environment

-Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5, Windows Operating Systems, Windows Server Operating Systems, including DNS, Active Directory, and Microsoft SharePoint Server

-Experience with constructive simulations, including JLCCTC, ERF, and MRF and layer I and II routers and switches, preferred

-Ability to plan and lead technical projects and coordinate associated requirements across multiple work centers

-Ability to work independently, or as part of a team

-Possession of excellent oral and written skills

-Possession of excellent computer and basic networking skills

-Microsoft Windows 7 Configuration certification, and CompTIA Linux + Certification
