Network Systems Design Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Serve as the senior level systems administrator across multiple network systems for government customer. Mentor and provide training to junior staff, including provide input to internal and external clients on simulation technical issues, and assist with the physical layout of network architecture to produce a realistic training environment. Install configure, maintain, optimize, operate, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux based software in support of constructive simulation, including JLCCTC ERF, and MRF systems or models, using rack mounted servers and Common Hardware Platforms (CHP). Perform Ethernet configuration, network and route troubleshooting, improving systems procedures, and maintaining connectivity with a suite of specialized application and database servers. Assess constructive simulation performance to ensure 100% network reliability during simulation exercises, and provide detailed documented feedback describing problems, including recommended solutions, and priorities. Assist with the simulation development cycle by participating in developer-lead integration events, and providing feedback to improve system or software design, and usability for the end users. Maintain responsibility of Authority To Operate (ATO) by conducting Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans on all systems to identify vulnerabilities, and mitigate identified risks by server patching and system hardening measures, including updating and maintaining logical and network diagrams, hardware and software inventory lists, memorandums of agreement and memorandums of comprehension, internal operating systems and installing security lockdowns on exercise systems, firewalls, network devices, SMARTNET Enclaves, and SharePoint servers in accordance with DoD Information Assurance Risk Management Framework (DIARMF) standards.

Basic Qualifications:

-4 years of experience with modeling and simulations

-Ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of the simulation

-Ability to work extended hours, on varying shift schedules, for several days during exercises to support the simulation

-Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds unassisted

-Secret clearance

-AA or AS degree

-CompTIA Security+ Certification

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5, Windows Operating Systems and Windows

-Experience with constructive simulations Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability, including JLCCTC, ERF and MRF, preferred

-Experience with Layer I and II routers and switches, preferred

-Experience with software testing environment

-Experience planning and leading technical projects and coordinating associated requirements across multiple work centers

-Knowledge of advanced computer skills, and basic networking

Server Operating Systems, including DNS, Active Directory, and Microsoft SharePoint Server

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Ability to work independently, or as part of a team

-Microsoft Windows 7 Configuration Certification

-CompTIA Linux+ Certification
