Network Systems Design Engineer

Key Role:

Design and develop complex voice, data, and multi-media communications network solutions. Employ expert knowledge of voice and data transport facilities, protocols, operating systems, and standards and regulations for public and private data networks. Project usage and required capacities based on the analysis of existing and emerging products and services. Locate, evaluate, and specify products, services, and vendors. Work with vendors to evaluate new products and resolve equipment design problems. Prepare reports to inform and advise senior technical staff and management, as necessary. Provide innovative solutions to complex functional problems that impact the function's success.


Basic Qualifications:

-Experience in network and system architecture, including subsystems, interfaces, and hw/sw dependencies

-Experience with network management, tools, and protocols, including configuration, IP network address management, and performance management

-Experience with architecture, design, implementation, and support of highly distributed and highly available networks

-Experience with DoD and other high availability networks

-Experience with firewall deployments and IPsec

-Experience with modern Internet routing architectures and with complex layer 2 Ethernet topologies and associated protocols

-Knowledge of security architecture and solution application-aware firewalls, network access controls, Cloud-based Internet proxy, and DNS security

-TS/SCI clearance

-BA or BS degree in Engineering

-IAT III or IAM III Certification


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with unclassified and classified communications devices

-Experience in negotiating and managing relationships governing worldwide transit, transport, and peering arrangements

-Knowledge of network management tools to analyze traffic characteristics, assess network and device health, and assist with implementing tool interoperability


Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.
