NIST Securities Control Data Steward

Key Role:

Perform as a member of the team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs' Electronic Health Records Modernization (EHRM) program management office. Assist system owners with documenting NIST security controls and incorporating processes, policies, and guidelines, as appropriate. Ensure system compliance with DoD and VA policies and regulatory obligations. Create and maintain security artifacts for information assurance and Cybersecurity, perform or review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability or non-compliance with established Cybersecurity standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies. Validate and verify system security requirements' definitions and analyses and establish system security designs. Provide program support, including life cycle stages from concept development and contract pre-acquisition through contractor design and authorization. Consult with providers and vendors during working group participation and provide solutions to challenging problems. Interface with other government organizations during security evaluation of engineering design solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

-10 years experience with commercial off-the self and government off-the-shelf cryptography

-Experience with identification, authentication, and authorization

-Experience with systems integration, information domain, and cross-domain

-Experience with security testing and evaluation (ST&E), including auditing

-Experience with NIST 800-53 and CNSSI 1253 RMF, including evaluating technical risks in accordance with RMF

-Experience with VA Directive and Handbook 6500 as well as DoD Instruction 8510 solutions

-Experience with risk management, intrusion detection, and loss prevention

-BA or BS degree in Engineering, CS, Computer Systems, or Business and 10 years of experience in a professional work environment
