Offshore Engineer

The Challenge:
As an offshore engineer on our team, you have the chance to shape the development of next generation energy technologies that increase efficiency or reduce emissions by leading the design of government R&D programs and evaluation of novel technology concepts. On our team, you’ll be able to broaden your skill set into areas like controls and aerospace engineering as well as your knowledge of energy market considerations. Grow your skills by merging offshore and marine engineering, controls engineering, and systems engineering to create next generation energy technology programs such as wind and marine hydrokinetic energy systems. You Have:

-5+ years of experience in postdoctoral, academic, or industry roles pertaining to the design or optimization of offshore systems

-Experience with researching hydrodynamics and structural dynamics

-Ability to perform domestic travel between 10% - 15% of the time

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-PhD degree in ME, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Naval Architecture

Nice If You Have:

-Experience with subscale experimental validation of marine systems and extrapolation of results to full scale

-Experience with the design or optimization of floating offshore systems, including floating offshore wind or marine hydrokinetic energy systems

-Experience with researching controls engineering, including applications involving non-linear, coupled dynamics, such as aero-, hydro-, elastic-, and servo- dynamics

-Experience with wind modeling and simulation software

-Experience with MATLAB or Simulink and their modeling, identification, and control toolboxes

-Experience in a consulting environment preferred

-Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

-Ability to exhibit flexibility and adaptability and work in a collaborative team environment

-Ability to be a proactive problem solver and work independently

-Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively

-Possession of excellent client service, organizational, analytical, and time management skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
