Operations Research Analyst, Junior

Key Role:

Conduct logical analyses of management problems and management information requirements and formulate mathematical models of problems for solution by computer. Prepare mathematical models of problem areas in one or several equations that relate constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters. Gather, relate, and identify data with variables in models by applying personal judgment and mathematical tests. Review operations and testing of models to ensure adequacy or determine needs for reformulation. Prepare written, nontechnical reports for management indicating solution or range of possible alternatives in rank of desirability and probability of success. Perform work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility under supervision.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with using statistical software applications, including SAS, R,  Matlab, SPSS, and Stata

-Knowledge of how to apply statistical and probability techniques

-Ability to conduct analysis and articulate findings

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BS degree in Operations Research, Management Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Mathematics, or Statistics

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with data visualization tools, including Tableau, Qlik, and PowerBI

-Experience with SQL, database development and administration, including process and software

-Experience with open source libraries, including R and Python

-Experience with advanced modeling tools, including AMPL and AIMS

-Experience with simulation software packages, including ExtendSim, AnyLogic, and Arena

-Experience with data cleaning, manipulation, discovery, analysis, and data visualization

-Experience with developing experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes, using strong baselines, and determining cause and effect relationships accurately

-Experience in working with a wide range of predictive and decision models and tools for developing such models

-Experience with applying various machine learning techniques and comprehending the key parameters that affect their performance

-Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access

-Knowledge of relevant statistical measures, including confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, and development and evaluation data sets

-Secret clearance
