Optical Communications Integration and Test Lead

Key Role:

Coordinate test activities, clarify questions regarding payload Comprehensive Performance Test (CPT) tests, record performance results for systems engineering, write shift reports, and support I&T shift handovers, test schedule tracking, and personnel shifts in a test lead capacity. Support discussions regarding anomalous results, including problem reports and plan a path forward. Perform Optical Module (OM) performance tests using the Optical Test Set (OTS), a critical ground support testbed in an engineering capacity in support of the OM. Support the OM Product Development Lead (PDL) to answer questions regarding OM performance, troubleshoot anomalous test results, coordinate OM requirements with systems engineering, and operate the OTS.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with testing spaceflight or ground support hardware, including multiple subsystems

-Experience with systems engineering on a spaceflight or ground support aerospace project

-Experience with electrical and optical subsystems, including controller electronics, optical telescopes, modems, and data processing hardware

-Experience with laser communication systems or RF-equivalent communication systems

-Experience with troubleshooting spaceflight or ground support hardware or software

-Ability to re-prioritize testing and recognize personnel necessary to accomplish tests

-Ability to organize meetings with the correct personnel, keep conversation on message, and accomplish very specific goals

-Ability to explain anomalous tests, re-prioritize testing, explain upcoming tests to management, explain status to management, and recommend paths forward

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree required

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with optics or optical systems, including telescopes, beam splitters, retro-reflectors, fiber optics, attenuators, and gimbaled mirrors a plus

-Possession of excellent organizational skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics preferred; MS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics a plus
