Performance Dietician, Senior

Key Role:

Provide guidance and counseling on nutritional practices to enhance recovery and optimize performance for military personnel with the priority on military operators and direct combat support personnel. Provide nutritional planning, counseling, and documentation that is guided by evidence-based peer-reviewed literature and advise the chain of command on issues pertinent to nutrition and performance nutrition. Provide individual and group counseling for guidance on performance nutrition, design and implement performance nutrition programs for military personnel in garrison, TAD or TDY, and deployed settings, and develop nutritional protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation and performance. Collaborate with the Human Performance (HP) program manager or coordinator for the implementation of new protocols and guidelines and assist other regional military assets as required. Ensure that adequate educational materials and sports nutrition specific supplies are available, assist with supply inventories, provide input on supply needs, and ensure that equipment and facilities under the purview of the performance dietitian are in safe working condition and are properly used. Ensure that records are updated, as required, participate in periodic in-service training for members of the HP staff, and attend required training in accordance with guiding instructions. Perform administrative duties, including maintaining records of workload, participating in education programs, and participating in clinical staff quality assurance functions.


Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience as a performance dietician with individual athletes and groups of athletes at the levels of NCAA Collegiate, Olympic, professional sports, or military operators in the accompanying, respective settings

-Ability to use computers, software, and technologies, as required and requested by the HP program manager or coordinator 

-Ability to meet the physical demands of training with military forces, including hiking over rough terrain and functioning in austere environments to observe military forces training evolutions and assist with strength and conditioning testing and training protocols

-Ability to lift and manipulate up to 25 kilograms

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-MA or MS degree in Nutrition Science

-Registered Dietician (RD) Certification

-Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics

-Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)


Additional Qualifications:

-Secret clearance

-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
