Photonics Technology Consultant

Key Role:

Apply photonics expertise as a strategic consultant to government science and technology Research and Development (R&D) clients. Work to impact national security investment in the advancement of state-of-the-art integrated photonics technologies by combining strategic advising with in-depth technical analysis. Maintain responsibility to apply technical expertise and relationships to serve clients. Provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support of senior-level decision makers. Conduct background research to evaluate the feasibility and defense applications of new semiconductor photonics-related technological concepts. Produce and present findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients. Assist with technical program management, program development, and briefing materials for government R&D efforts.


Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with photonics research

-Ability to commute to Arlington, VA

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-MA or MS degree in EE, Physics


Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with government-sponsored research activities

-Experience with analysis, design, or fabrication of optoelectronic devices and photonic integrated circuits

-Experience with analysis and design of laser sensing systems

-Experience with analysis and design of visible or IR semiconductor lasers and associated materials platform

-Knowledge of semiconductor device physics

-Ability to identify critical functions and components that impact optical communications, imaging, or sensing systems

-Ability to convey complex technical insights to specialist and generalist audiences

-Experience with management of R&D programs

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-PhD degree in EE or Physics preferred
