Ports, Protocols, and Services Specialist, Junior

Key Role:

Support the PPSM Program IAW DoD Instruction 8551.1 through the assurance that all Enterprise Information System Ports, Protocols, and Services (PPS) are registered in the PPSM central registry. Ensure that all PPS are categorized and updated on the PPSM Category Assurance List and are not deployed prior to approval from the Authorizing Official (AO). Assist the government to develop, revise, implement, and enforce PPSM policies. Validate information in DoD databases and Web sites, including Systems and Network Approval Process (SNAP), SIPRNet GIG Interconnection Approval Process (GIAP) System (SGS), and Ports and Protocols System Management (PPSM) database. Conduct PPSM reviews and generate Exception Request Summary that identifies PPS, enclaves and boundaries of traffic, recommended risk mitigations, client coordination, and status of request. Monitor and process client ticket requests through the government IT service management (ITSM) tool, including Remedy for enterprise change requests.

Basic Qualifications:

-3 years of experience with supporting DoD clients

-Knowledge of DoD Instruction 8551.1 and registering PPS in the PPSM Central Registry, DoD whitelist registrations and exception requirements, requirements for processing internal and external PPSM requests, including non–standard use for AO and DoD PPSM approvals, and DoDIN and boundaries

-Knowledge of government security controls defined in NIST Special Publication 800–53 and DoD Instruction 8500.02

-Top Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree

-DoD 8570 IAT II Certification, including GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with the implementation of vulnerability management (IAVM) process and POA&M

-Ability to be a detail–oriented, self–motivated individual

-Ability to produce briefings and reports for senior–level audience

-Ability to develop effective working relationships that improve the quality of work products

-Ability to handle competing priorities

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Possession of excellent organizational skills

-BA or BS degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required.
