Power System Engineer, Senior

Key Role:
Provide technical support to government clients pursuing distributed generation, energy storage, and microgrid projects involving the integration of renewable or conventional generation and energy storage technologies to provide reliable, efficient, and secure energy solutions to clients. Interact with clients, utility companies, developers, and other stakeholders to evaluate the technical feasibility of implementing different energy projects. Develop conceptual design, one-line diagrams. Perform cost estimates and write equipment specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and codes. Serve as a technical adviser to senior government or military officials.    

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with low, medium, and high voltage levels

-Knowledge of substation configurations and components

-Knowledge of industry codes and standards, including IEEE, NEC, and ANSI

-Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and conduct power system calculations

-Ability to travel to work sites up to 25% of the time

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BS degree in EE and 20 years of experience with utility and power system engineering in power generation, transmission, and distribution or MS degree in EE and 10 years of experience with utility and power system engineering in power generation, transmission, and distribution

-Active Professional Engineer’s (PE) License

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in working with military clientele

-Experience in the design and operation of electrical systems of mission-critical facilities

-Experience in smart grid, controls systems, grid security, and SCADA

-Experience with Photovoltaic (PV) power plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects  

-Experience with conducting power flow, transient, voltage drop, short circuit, arc flash, and relay coordination studies using power system software, including ETAP, SKM power tools, PowerWorld, and other simulation software

-Experience with analyzing complex power system problems

-Knowledge of energy management strategies

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
